Trade
- What is considered a trade? A career that requires specialized skills typically gained through vocational schools or apprenticeships. Vocational/trade school is a specialized school that provides specific training and often includes hands on learning. Trade school programs can vary in length between 3 months-two years.
- Examples: Welding, Cosmetology, Electrical, Carpentry, etc.
Certificate
- Certificates are designed to test previous knowledge and skills on a specific task. After course work and an exam, the certificate is provided to the student. These often are offered online or taken at a community college. Certificate programs can last between 7 weeks – 6 months.
- Digital Marketing, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Associate (MA), Coding/Billing (Insurance), Real Estate, Certified Driver’s License (CDL).
College
4-year
- A 4-year college degree can offer a variety of different benefits. A four-year degree is called a bachelor’s degree and can be in many different areas of interest.
Marketing, Communications, Biology, Teaching, Pre-Med, Engineering, Aeronautics, etc.
2 -year
- A 2-year degree can also offer a variety of benefits. A 2-year degree is called an associate’s degree. These programs are most commonly completed at a Community College but also offered through High School programs and 4-year universities. These programs often include the course load of a 4-year program in combination with hands-on training.
- Graphic Design, Culinary, Automotive Technology, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Radiological Technician (Hospital), etc.
